Beachers Lodge and St. Augustine FAQ’s
We encourage all of our interested guests to call us directly to answer any questions or requests. We have listed answers to some of the most frequently asked questions below:
Why stay at a Condo-Hotel?
It’s the best of both worlds. Rooms are fully equipped with the amenities of home with better pricing and service than area hotels (Our Friendly Front desk staff to greet you, our housekeeping services to delight you and maintenance staff available to ease your worries).
Are all condo units at Beacher’s Lodge available for rent?
No. We do not rent every unit at Beacher’s Lodge. Since the units are individually owned, there are some units that are not rented through the hotel program. Units that are not rented through the hotel still have to abide by Condominium Association rules, however, we may have limited information on unit occupancy or renovation projects taken on by units that are not in the rental program.
What time is check in/check out?
Check in is at 4:00 pm, Check out is at 11:00 am. A later check out or an earlier check-in may be available, you will have to call the front desk on the day of your arrival or departure. Early check-in cannot be guaranteed.
What is the parking situation at Beacher’s Lodge?
There is only one parking spot per condo at Beacher’s Lodge, so we can only issue one parking pass per reservation. We cannot allow boats/RV’s/trailers to park in our lot due to this limited parking situation. If you want to check our local options for boat storage you can check out Matanzas Boat Storage which is just across the 206 bridge on State Road 206 or the marina in downtown St. Augustine.
Is there a continental breakfast?
No. Because all the units have fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes, most guests stop at the grocery store and eat breakfast in.
How old do you have to be to rent a condo at Beacher’s Lodge?
You must be at least 21 years of age.
Can a guest request a unit by number?
Many return guests have a favorite unit at Beacher’s Lodge. We do our best to accommodate requests for specific room numbers but we cannot guarantee a room number. When making a reservation online, you will be reserving the specific unit you have selected. We will do everything possible to keep you reserved in the unit of preference.
What is the difference between a Gold, Silver, and Bronze rated condo?
Gold Units need little to no improvements in amenities and décor, Silver Units might have a few minor things that need improvement, and Bronze units offer the same views and property amenities, however, they do need overall updating. These difference in décor allow us to offer rooms that are budget friendly, stylistically appealing or both. Then we let you select the room that is just right for your stay. (Check the calendar to the left for units that are actually available for your dates)
Why is the king suite the only room that allows up to 5 people?
All the units here have bedding provided for up to 4 people. The king is the only room that will allow a 5th person (although it will be crowded). There is enough extra living space to set up a sleeping bag or rollaway bed for a 5th person. Rollaway beds are provided on a limited basis, by request, for a $10 nightly fee.
What are the pool hours?
Our pool is typically open from 8am until dusk (approximately 1/2 hour prior to sunset). There may be instances when the pool has to be closed for safety purposes but we do everything we can to keep the pool open during regular operating hours.
Which units are located directly at or overlooking the pool?
Some queen units overlook both the pool and the ocean, while some just overlook the ocean. Some 1st level queen suites open directly on the pool deck while others have the limited sand dune/ocean horizon view. Because our beach access is at the pool area, some guests prefer to request queen suites close to or away from the pool area.
Can I see where rooms are located on the property?
The oceanfront building has 4 floors, so the first number of the room indicate what floor it is located on. Condos ending in 01 – 33 will be in the oceanfront building. The studio section is not oceanfront, it’s is located right next to the lobby and only has 2 floors. The studio building does not have an elevator, where as the oceanfront building has a ramp and elevator at both the north and south end of the building. What is the cancellation policy?
We require a 48-hour prior-to-arrival notice in order to cancel without a fee. If you call to cancel within the 48 hours, there will be a fee charged to the card on file equal to one (1) night at rack rate. If you are making a reservation that is an arrival within the next 48 hours, the cancellation policy is still in force (a cancellation fee will be charged if you must cancel). For monthly reservations, we require a 1 month-to-arrival notice. If you cancel within the month prior to arrival you will be charged a cancellation fee equal to ¼ of the monthly rate. A cancellation code is given upon cancellation if a reservation is canceled in time and without penalty. Please let us know of your change in plans as soon as possible, so accommodations will be available for those in need.
How far is Beacher’s Lodge from Historic St. Augustine?
Beacher’s Lodge is nestled among the sand dunes only 10 miles south of the Historic District of St. Augustine. There is also a historic fort, Fort Matanzas, just 4 miles south of us. Take a walking tour downtown, a trolley ride on the red and green trains, or take a boat across the Intracoastal waterway. There is plenty to see and do all over St. Augustine!
Is there a hot tub on the property?
Not at this time. A few units have a jet tub (not a jacuzzi) in the bathroom. The ocean front pool is heated and provides much enjoyment during the cooler months.
Are there internet services available on the property?
We have a wireless network here at Beacher’s Lodge. Each hotel unit will have a WiFi access point and you will receive free login information upon arrival. We provide this free of charge to our hotel guests. While we offer this amenity free to our guests, we cannot offer any refunds if the network is down as sometimes repairs are necessary.
Do you accept pets in all units?
No. Each room is individually owned, the owner specifies whether or not the unit will allow a pet. Please confirm that you have reserved a “pet-friendly” unit before arriving with your pet. For our guests with pet allergies, you can also request a unit that does not allow a pet. Read more.
What fees or restrictions are associated with pet stays?
We allow small well-behaved pets (35 lbs maximum* call for exceptions) in our pet-friendly units. There is a $50 pet fee, per pet, per stay. If you have 2 pets the fee would be $100 for your entire stay. If you are only staying one night the pet fee per pet is reduced to $25 per pet for the night. Daily cleaning services may be compromised if a pet is left unattended, but linens are available at the front desk from 7am – 11pm. There is a maximum limit of 2 pets per condo.
Does the hotel provide towels & linens?
Yes. The hotel provides towels and linen for the hotel units. Daily housekeeping is included in the nightly and weekly stays, while monthly guests enjoy once per week housekeeping, all without any additional fee. There are also pool towels available at the front desk, however, they are not for beach use.
Does the hotel provide beach chairs or beach umbrellas?
No, you may want to bring your own umbrella or beach chair to make sure you are set for the beach. If you don’t have the room to travel with these items, you may want to consider renting beach items from Big Bill’s Beach Stuff. Many properties in our area use this service and you can reserve the items you know you will need while you are here and have them delivered to your unit for a fee.
Are there beach bike or other beach item rentals available nearby? Any other area activities?
Yes, again check out Big Bill’s Beach stuff (Link above) – they will deliver for a fee. There is also a surf station on the corner that rents surfboards and can even provide lessons. Kayak rentals, boat rentals, and fishing charters are available on the intra-coastal side, only a few blocks away.
What amenities come standard in all units?
A DVD player, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, in room safe, refrigerator, stove top, microwave, toaster, 4-cup coffee maker, coffee, pots/pans/dishes/utensils, TV w/ standard cable, wireless internet.
Are there restaurants on the property or nearby?
We do not have a restaurant on property but there are a couple within walking distance. South Beach Grille is right next door for lunch and dinner. Tony’s Pizza is across the street and will deliver to your room. Paula’s Beachside Grille on the corner that has a tiki theme, occasional live music, and tasty items for lunch and dinner. The World Famous Oasis restaurant is only 4 miles north and provides live entertainment on most nights.
