Cool St. Augustine Nights on the First Coast

Whether a long day at the beach or a busy day at the pool, there is no better way to end your day at Beacher’s Lodge than with a fun night out! There are countless things to do during the day, but believe it or not there are just as many fun things to do at night – and there is no better feeling than being out of the Florida heat while still being able to have just as much fun.

First Coast Destinations Sure to Please Any Crowd

The nightlife around St. Augustine is extraordinary. The town offers things to do inside and outside for those of all ages and is guaranteed to be something your family will never forget. Although Saint Augustine does get excruciatingly hot during the day, nights are a different story – expect to be pleasantly surprised by typically cooler temperatures and a brisk breeze if you choose to embark outside for the night! Here are some of the local favorites for your night out on the town:

  • The Ghost and Gravestones Night Tours are a fan favorite. Catch a ride on one of the city’s trolleys and be prepared for a spooky ride around downtown and even to the St. Augustine Lighthouse.  Enjoy numerous thrilling stories about the city. This tour is open to children and adults of all ages, lasts only an hour, and is only given at night.
  • The St. Augustine Amphitheatre is a widely known venue located on St. Augustine Beach, just a mile from the beach itself. The venue is completely outside besides a wide cover stretching over the seats and stage, so you’ll be sure to experience cool temperatures and the most satisfying breeze of your life. The venue hosts a wide array of concerts and events year round, so be sure to check out their website while in town to book your experience!
  • The Lightner Museum, a once massive hotel, is located in the heart of St. Augustine. This museum is home to art from all over the world, amazing architectural displays, and other unique pieces of St. Augustine’s history. The museum is open inside until 4:00 PM, but the building itself can still be walked around on the outside to view the architecture and landscaping, perfect for taking pictures and making memories!
  • The Limelight Theatre is an all inside venue located in uptown St. Augustine, so it is perfect for a rainy night or if you’re itching for some air conditioning. The venue holds events year round, mostly featuring local acting productions casted with a majority of young adults, making it perfect for a family experience or the perfect date night. This venue puts on eight productions a year, so make sure to check out their website in advance for show times and to reserve tickets!
  • A Walk around the Castillo de San Marcos is the perfect inexpensive way to spend a night in downtown St. Augustine. The Fort itself closes at 5:00 PM, but surrounding the fort are huge fields and hills, and a beautiful seawall perfect for catching the sunset over the intercoastal. Better yet, grab a bite to eat at any of the surrounding restaurants and have a picnic in the grass to enjoy being outside!
  • The Old Jail After Dark is another out of this world, spooky opportunity to experience with the whole family. Also in downtown St. Augustine, the Old Jail was previously a maximum security prison, where it now serves as a museum where visitors can walk through the cells, partake in ghost hunting, and even go on private investigations with the tour guides. This experience is not one to pass up, and is sure to be one that the whole family will enjoy and remember forever.

If none of the above activities sound like a good choice for you or your family, remember that’s just the beginning.  While everyone loves the beach during the day, we think beach nights are just as special, so stay at Beacher’s Lodge and play on the beach by the moonlight.  Our area is full of endless opportunities and tons of hidden gems for every type of family and budget!
